My New Favorite Poet is a poet who had a varied career and a disappearance shrouded in mysterious circumstances: Weldon Kees. I discovered him via this article on the Poetry Foundation’s website. I really love his poem “A Late History” (such a great line: “I eat black pudding and the dove descends.”) and was quite intrigued by what did or did not happen to him.

Well, then I will check him out. Thanks for the tip!
Absolutely! I’m glad that it interested you enough to look further. Beside getting my work out there and reading great work from others, another of the true joys that blogging brings me is to be able to share my tastes in poetry with (hopefully! JaJaJa) like-minded folks like yourself!
I was not very familiar with him until now. It may take a bit of walking around his rooms before I find a light switch (to use a Billy Collins phrase). So far I find that I am enthralled by the poem “Covering Two Years.” I think I may attempt an audio reading of this one: http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazine/browse/77/1#!/20591396
Great line! Billy Collins is one of my heroes! And I can’t wait to hear / read / see your reading if you decide to do it!
You’ll be the first to know.
